Those Portable Mini Laptops Can Be Your Main Computer!

Lots of people are buying the portable mini laptops, also called ultra-portables or netbooks, as second computers for traveling.

They use them on the road, but don't really like to use them all the time because the screens are so small.

Most of them have enough ports that you can use a big screen, big keyboard, and big mouse. Add an external hard drive, and you have a decent full-size computer.

Most of the screens are too small for regular viewing. Luckily, you can buy a 20" LCD for very little money. Plug it into the VGA port on the laptop, and use the big monitor when you're at home. You can even use your LCD TV as a screen if you want to.

The keyboards, especially on the 7-8.9" units, are very small. Many people have trouble typing comfortably on them. Unless you have tiny hands, you probably will too. Luckily, you can easily plug an external keyboard and mouse into the unit. It's much more comfortable to type on a full-size keyboard and use a full-size mouse.

Many of the portable mini laptops come with very small solid state hard drives. This is great while you're on the road, because these drives are less likely to break down. But you may not have enough room to save everything you need. So invest in a 500 GB or 1 TB external hard drive. That will give you plenty of room.

If you run out of USB ports, don't think you're out of luck. You can always buy a USB hub. This will give you more ports so you can do everything you want to do.

So don't think you're stuck with that tiny screen and keyboard. For not very much money, you can have the best of both worlds!
