What's So Great About the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Netbook?

The Inspiron Netbook is Dell's first foray into the netbook segment of the market. A netbook can be thought of as a mini laptop. The netbook sacrifices some of the more powerful elements that can be found in a laptop, and instead focuses on compactness, user friendliness and power conservation.
Dell's competition includes the Asus Eee PC 901, the Asus Aspire One and MSI Wind among others. But the Dell mini has the competition smoked in terms of battery life, with a claimed battery life of around 4 hours.

The Inspiron Netbook is light, compact and made for the on-the-go lifestyle. It was made to perform the basic tasks of internet surfing, email and perhaps some word processing. It is not designed for users who require high processing ability.

The netbook is designed with basic functionality and cost effectiveness in mind. To this end, Dell, like its competitors, has used the less powerful Intel Atom and has cut size wherever it can. It is designed to connect wirelessly to the internet using wi-fi technology. This makes it perfect for students who require a device to take notes, surf the web on the go and even listen to music.

The specs are not impressive, but serve the purpose. The Inspiron Netbook only comes with Windows XP, whereas most new laptops and PC 's today come with Windows Vista.

However, if you are an executive on the go, and just need a small device to handle the basics with long battery life, then the Netbook is your best bet.

It is not a good idea to use the Inspiron Netbook as your main computer system. If you require more than basic functionality, then it may be wiser to spend your money on a larger laptop.
